SRX14720814: Long-Read sequencing of K. pneumoniae: Ghanaian patient
1 OXFORD_NANOPORE (PromethION) run: 180,849 spots, 3G bases, 2.4Gb downloads

Design: Isolated DNA was sent for sequencing to BGI Genomics. Libraries were prepared at the sequencing facility. Isolates were sequenced on a R9.4.1 flowcell with a Oxford Nanopore PromethION device. The HAC basecalling model was used. Reads shorter than 2000bp were filtered out.

Study: Microepidemiology of plasmids in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae with acquired extended spectrum beta-lactamase genes isolated from chronic wounds in Ghana
show Abstracthide Abstract
Little information on the microepidemiology of mobile genetic elements like plasmids harboring acquired beta-lactamase genes in Western African Ghana is available so far. In the study presented here, we screened for plasmids in 3 Escherichia coli and 4 Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates from chronically infected wounds of Ghanaian patients expressing extended spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) mediated by the blaCTX-M-15 gene. The bacterial isolates were subjected to combined short-read and long-read sequencing to obtain the sequences of their plasmids
